Dr. Bento was born and raised on the Southwest coast of Portugal. He obtained his DVM and Master’s degree in 2008 from Escola Universitaria Vasco da Gama (College of Veterinary Medicine) in Coimbra, Portugal. Following vet school, he spent a year in small animal private practice near Lisbon. He moved to the United States in 2010 to complete a rotating internship at Washington State University and stayed as a Community Practice Clinician the following year. In 2012, he moved to New York to complete a Small Animal Internal Medicine residency at Cornell University, and achieved board certification through the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2015. He then moved to the Midwest to be a faculty member at Michigan State University. He worked at a private practice in NY, and then joined our Boston West team and currently practices at Port City. Although Pedro enjoys all aspects of Internal Medicine, he is particularly interested in Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Hematology.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, outdoor activities, going to the beach, and traveling.
